The Ultimate Science of Getting Rich

Getting rich is a science according to Bob Proctor, one that manifests itself through the most powerful force in the universe, the Law of Attraction, also known as The Secret. Getting rich is as simple as visualizing yourself to success, according to this self help guru's lessons…of course, to learn how to get rich, you've got to buy all the lessons he sells. He's been interviewed on Oprah, and The Secret DVD is one of the regular top-sellers on Amazon.com, and Oprah Winfrey has endorsed The Secret and The Law of Attraction, bringing it to millions of Americans.

Fundamentally, the Law of Attraction is the law of positive thinking. If you focus on positive things in your life, they'll be attracted to you.

In Bob Proctor's own words:

"Everything that's coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it's attracted by virtue of the images you're holding in your mind. It's what you're thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you."

Now, this principle is used in executive training, and sports medicine and acting; it's at the root of Method acting, for example – what you visualize yourself doing is what you'll do on stage. And, empirically, it works.

However, the Law of Attraction is not always positive. If you think on negative things, stressing yourself out for an interview, or worrying about how others have done you harm, you're only going to make that a self-fulfilling prophecy, and make yourself miserably unhappy.

The Law of Attraction is, in many ways, the latest manifestation of the most basic of all spiritual principles: What you want, and what you believe in is what you will manifest in your life. This was one of the messages of Buddha, and of Christ and of Mohamad, and it is pretty solidly at the root of most human interactions and operations.

Where Bob Proctor takes it a step further is that instead of miring you in spirituality and "feel good about yourself" nostrums, he also leads you into some practical, sensible, straightforward planning, and that's where the real benefit of his lessons lies. Most people cannot plan, even on a subconscious level. They focus entirely on the here-and-now, and future events are in the "undefined, indefinite future". Simply visualizing a goal in the present tense is an active step towards achieving it, or removing the mental barriers within yourself preventing you from achieving it.

His other techniques, such as building a budget, and visualizing what needs to be done to improve your income, including visualizing your dream job, your dream occupation, are all excellent techniques, which he's grafted on to the Law of Attraction, towards pro actively planning for your future, and simply having the confidence not to abandon your plan, even when setbacks occur. While he coaches this in the invincibility of the Law of Attraction, a lot of what he's describing is pretty solid advice from financial planners and business school advisory.

Among the bits of advice he gives: Make a list of your current goals at least once a week, and every morning examine it, as the first or second thing you do – take the list to your mirror. Take a moment to envision a step that furthers each of those goals during the day, and then focus on the feelings you'll get when that step is accomplished. This helps prime you for achieving your goals, by taking them out of the indeterminate future and putting them in the "now", so that you'll actually work on them in the foreground, rather than going "if only…"

The third, and perhaps, greatest piece of advice in Bob Proctor's Science of Getting Rich is simply this: If you believe in your limitations, they will be yours. If you believe in your own positive outlook, you're far likelier to get the happiness and wealth in life that you deserve. His concrete examples are worth picking up this series of lessons, and changing your life with them.

Finally, advice from the bottom of his heart: Live within your means; don't pay with credit for anything that you can put off the purchase of until later, because by doing so, you're attracting debt and other negative consequences in your life.
