Success Is to Grow Forward to the Land of Possibility Thinking
Business and individuals are continually seeking the next level of excellence and success. To do that requires a mindset of accepting change and looking at all of the possibilities in life. Only then, can we grow forward.
Growing is a part of life. Even though we are constantly growing mentality, physically, financially, socially, ethically and personally through family, many individuals fear the result of growing that being change.
In business, executives and owners see change every day in their Profit & Loss Statement or P&L. The goal is to grow the profits while keeping losses at a minimum. Since the focus is on growth, then maybe it is time to rename this handy tool to Possibility & Limitations Statement.
For when we see the possibilities in business and life, we are now open to growing forward instead of being limited and holding our potential back. Change is now embraced because the mindset or beliefs have been redirected to look at the same situation with a different filter of lens. Now we can become innovators and take control of our destiny as business risk takers to life risk takers.
Unfortunately, what is keeping most people and businesses from growing is their fear of change or fear to change. Since many individuals are comfortable with the pain of their existence, the gain to change has to be so incredible that very few people become risk takers. This fear of change holds them back. They would rather stay where they are somewhat miserable and fearful than take chance to grow and ignite their potential.
The other day I was at the celebration of life for a dear friend who has been many times a surrogate parent who was celebrating 80 years of incredible, inspiring life. At the time, I was asked what I do and explained a little about my business. The person asking the question was quite astounded that I took the risk to start a business less alone one in the area of performance improvement. She asked me "Were you not afraid?" I had to be honest and say "Yes, but I was more afraid not to grow."
Human beings are born with the innate capacity to grow. For me, this growth capacity is my potential. How much of my potential am I actively growing? Albert Einstein, the father of quantum physics was quoted in the later years of his life as using only "10%" of his potential. He truly understood the ability to grow is always present and that we as humans have so much more growing to do.
When we grow forward asking the What If questions, we are thriving in the Land of Possibility. And, isn't that a better place to be especially if we truly want to grow and reach that next level of excellence and success?
